Robert spends this entire video standing, holding cymbals, looking highly uncomfortable, doing nothing. It's kind of perfect. I suppose if it hadn't cut out early he would eventually have crashed them, but I like it better this way. Robert Smith's contribution to Siouxsie and the Banshees? Looking glum and holding instruments. lol. At least according to this video.

“At the end of knowledge, wisdom begins, and at the end of wisdom, there is not grief...but hope”

So, Kurt Vonnegut's death was a pretty big blow to us all. Less significant to some, but no less painful to others of us, is the death of Lloyd Alexander. He passed on yesterday, age 83. Mr. Alexander was a marvellous and imaginative author whose work touched the hearts of children, but who has been largely underappreciated, I feel. You might know a name like Madeline L'Engle or Phillip Pullman or Jane Yolen, but Lloyd Alexander? Maybe not.

He changed my childhood. I'll never forget how outraged I was about that stupid princess and her stupid magic ring. This is a year for losses. But at least it reminds us of what we once had.
